The
enviable geographic situation of the Convent of São Paulo provides,
in itself, a varied set of recreation and cultural activities.
The Hotel makes available to its clients two open air swimming pools, exquisitely
framed with century old trees and indigenous vegetation, supported by a
lights snacks and bar service. It also has a hard tennis court, which allows
the visitor to have some hours of healthy physical exercise, which can be
complemented by a nice trip on mountain bikes (freely provided by the Hotel)
or on foot, on the routes that cross the 600 hectare estate of the Convent
of São Paulo and of the Azenha (Watermill).
Occasionally, in the spaces of the Convent, there are fine shows of dance,
classic music, song and art exhibitions.
From the historical and cultural perspective, the resources of Convent of
São Paulo are innumerable and the book “Convent of S. Paulo
of Serra de Ossa” (which can be obtained at the Reception), is the
ideal guide that will allow you to better recognise and understand the monumental
heritage that surrounds it.
On the other hand, the whole region is full of pre-historic remains (the
Alentejo has one of the greatest concentrations in Europe of megalithic
monuments), churches, castles, palaces (for example, the Paço Real
de Vila Viçosa and its Museum), all of this within a radius of 30
km from the Hotel.
The Convent of São Paulo, in collaboration with specialised companies,
also provides other activities that can complement your stay. These are
jeep safaris through the mountains, boat trips on the Rio Guadiana, balloon
trips, canoeing, target practice with bow and arrow or blowpipe, sport fishing,
hunting, bullock baiting, visits to estates breeding horses, bulls, ostriches
and falconry, as well as thematic and gastronomy tours and wine tasting.
All of this, to make your trip an unforgettable experience.
